    I worked with Wendy for about nine months to improve my muscle tone and strength working with my body weight and light hand weights. We focused on my core, arms, legs and glutes incorporating floor exercises, stretch bands and medicine balls. Her sessions were enjoyable and varied enough to keep them interesting.

    In addition, Wendy was able to modify my workout to accommodate past injuries and personal preferences. During our sessions, I was able to build a portfolio of exercises I could perform at home which was quite fortunate as my schedule changed which no longer allowed me the time to continue our sessions. When we first started together, I couldn’t do a sit up, I couldn’t do a lunge, and honestly didn’t have the energy to do any type of activity for an hour – I was in terrible shape.     I want to send a big shout out to Wendy S. I’m 64 yrs old and was feeling like my strength and balance were starting to decline, when I talked with her about it , she suggested we get into a personal training routine. All I can say is” What a difference!!! I feel stronger and more stable but most importantly I have more energy. The one on one with her was a game changer, it helped me to do my best and keep focused.     In early 2024, I finally got serious about weight loss. Id been a member of the Wellness Centre for around a year. I signed up for a fitness and nutrition in February and was assigned to Wendy Spalding. After a few exercise and nutrition classes, things got a little more serious. In early April, Wendy critiqued my eating habits. She encouraged protein and discouraged sugar and beer. If I was to be serious about losing weight, the calories from beer needed to be eliminated. So, on April 8th, I gave up alcohol and learned to manage sugar intake and foods that turn into sugar. This is not particularly easy to do. I was able to navigate through the next few months with Wendy’s coaching. A personalised exercise programme and managing nutrition have combined to help me lose close to 50 pounds so far. And as of the beginning of this week, I am 108 days alcohol free. I’m grateful for crossing paths with Ms. Spalding. Her knowledge, dedication and passion have left and unforgettable mark on me. My glucose level has dropped from 122, which is 4 points from diabetes, to 104 which is only 4 points from normal. I’m very encouraged by my progress. After 68 years of poor nutrition and inconsistent exercise, I now have the resources to navigate the golden years. Ms Spalding proved that you CAN teach an old dogs new tricks.
